![]() ![]() There are so many New Mexican restaurants in Santa Fe. Everybody was happy, all was good, yet all was ordinary. The others had variations of that, either the same with only one type of chile, or a breakfast burrito. I had huevos rancheros, which interestingly was made with a base of a flour tortilla, then eggs and black beans, smothered in 2 types of cheese and red and green chile. ![]() I like red and green chile (the sauce) which we call Xmas here, and I always request both on whatever I'm having. The menu is extensive with all of the expected New Mexican breakfast items. The place was lively with breakfast patrons and we were seated promptly (5 of us). I have lived in Santa Fe for 32 years and it has been more than 25 since I've been to Tortilla Flats. Nearby was Tortilla Flats and they were open, so we headed over there. My wife and I were taking my nephew and his friends (grown ups) to breakfast recently and discovered that my first choice, Castro's, wasn't open at 8:30am. ![]()
